Nutrition:
Eating properly is essential for physical health! Yes, yes, you have heard it before, but we MUST keep repeating the message because dialing in your eating habits really makes a difference. We have seen a lot of clients make amazing differences in body composition, strength, energy levels and health (as measured by blood work) all from eating properly.
At Level 4 we lean heavily on the work of Robb Wolf, author of The Paleo Solution; Lauren Cordain; author of The Paleo Diet; and Mark Sisson, author of The Primal Blueprint. We also highly recommend two books by science writer Gary Taubes; Good Calories Bad Calories and Why We Get Fat and What To Do About It.
Why these authors and these books? Because they work! There are numerous people in our gym who have made major improvements in their quality of life by letting us help them implement a ‘paleo’ eating approach.
The LEANing Challenge
Twice a year (once in the fall and once in the spring) we offer a LEANing Challenge to anyone that wants to participate. The Challenge is 7 weeks long. It’s amazing what many people have accomplished in 7 weeks! Some people join the LEANing challenge to make body composition changes and others join to make new, healthier eating habits.
The rules of the LEANing Challenge are:
- Eating paleo
- Cost: $30.00 (cash) to be put into a kitty
- The kitty will be divided in 2 for a FEMALE winner and a MALE winner
- 3 ‘Before’ pictures taken: front view, side view and back view. Men are in shorts and Women are in shorts and sports bra/bikini top
- Each Monday your food log for the previous week is emailed to our LEANing Yahoo Group
- Anyone can enter the LEANing challenge, but to win you must submit your food logs each week
- 3 ‘After’ pictures are taken
- Level 4 trainers pick the top 5 men and top 5 women whose body composition changed the most
- LEANing participants (only) vote on the top 10 to determine the Winners
- The 2 winners each win half of the kitty; 2nd place male and female win 1 month of unlimited classes
- The pictures taken are PRIVATE. The pictures of the top 5 men and top 5 women will be viewed on paper at the gym to determine the winners
